The 12 Days of Christmas Music
Now that it’s officially December I feel comfortable mentioning the “C” word. Most Christmas songs have been invading our inner ears since late October (depending on the stores you frequent) and have well worn out their welcome. However as unbelievable as it may sound, there are a small handful of songs that don’t make me want to rip my ears from my head and set them on fire. Below is a list of tolerable, entertaining and just plain adored holiday songs:
1. “Christmas Wrapping” - The Waitresses (Adored)

My Top Five+ Christmas Movie List
*Not in any specific order
1) I will forever love Charlie Brown and his tree

2) I’ve never shot my eye out but I know to beware of kids with new BB guns

3) Buddy could totally be my buddy

4) I always identified with the Grinch, should this be a concern?

5) I don’t care what anyone says, this is a Christmas movie, not Halloween

+) And just for good measure - because we should all have a little National Lampoons in our holiday festivities

My Halloween Confession
I was totally and completely freaked out by Halloween II as a child. But…
the effects were longer lasting than I would have ever imagined. I don’t recall many details of the movie but I do remember it took place in a hospital and the song: “Mr. Sandman” burned a hole of fear deep into my core.

When I was in middle school I spent a week in the hospital with pneumonia. I didn’t sleep a wink at night because I was convinced a masked slasher freak was going to come in and kill me. So I spent nights watching crappy music videos (not MTV) until stations would go off air for the night (once upon a time there were fewer channels and TV was not 24/7). I killed off the rest of the darkness with books and puzzles watching the shadows of footsteps outside my door making sure no one came at me with a butcher knife. Yes, I was a fraidy cat idiot. But I was young. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAwg1qJscXA
However my insane fear of the song “Mr. Sandman” is without a doubt; embarrassing. I can now say I’m cured; I can hear the song without the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. It still makes me think of Michael Myers but without that chill running through me. But from the first time I heard it in Halloween II all the way through high school (yes high school), this song put the fear of God in me. It could be a bright sunny July day and if that song was played anywhere within earshot, I became more than a little afraid. Realistically I knew I wasn’t going to be murdered, but that didn’t stop me from looking behind me to make sure no one was there. Then for the next few hours I would remain on edge and jumpy.

I have to say, when I watch the Halloween movies now I’m more likely to laugh than get scared. But I miss really good scary movies that leave me with a lingering fear. No other movie, image, scent or sound has had as powerful an effect in scaring me as “Mr. Sandman.” Enjoy – Trick or Treat!

Hacked
I see my Tumblr account was hacked. That’s not very nice. Karma bitches.
“This is how we do it”
That line kept playing over and over again in my head as I watched my beloved Texas Rangers beat the snot out of the Detroit Tigers. Problem was I had no idea who sang the song and it was driving me nuts. Today I look it up and see that it’s by Montell Jordan and my next thought is, “the talk show guy?” but that’s Montell Williams.

I’m straight on my Montell’s now but I still can’t get that damn song outta my head.
I’m ready to have “We are the Champions” stuck in my head but I’m saving that for our World Series win.
Forget about waterboarding…
This is what I call torture

Tie me to a chair and play this for any length of time and I’ll tell you anything you want to know.
“you remain, my power my pleasure my pain!” (Taken with instagram)
Paddington Bear Rocks Out
Wait, upon closer investigation I think we found Axle Rose has swallowed Paddington Bear and is now wearing his clothes like a trophy.
You’ll be missed P.B.
5 Famous Hidden Song Meanings (That are total B.S.)
I feel so much smarter now. And I believe it 100% because I read it on the internet.
Music does not discriminate against age
And here’s the proof: Blondie at the Granada Theater in Dallas on October 1, 2011. Debbie Harry was born in 1945 but you wouldn’t notice this watching her perform live. She had plenty of energy and attitude. Still the same Blondie.

I do too
… meet Dave Grohl that is.
This new Wavves song cracks me up every time I hear it: http://www.myspace.com/wavves I don’t particularly like it as a song but I think the content is amusing.
If this works and he meets Dave Grohl, I’m going to write a song about a Smiths reunion tour and see what happens.

My Music Video Kryptonite
Some people have an irrational fear of clowns.
I’m cool with the Bozo’s of the world.
But I swear the lead signer of Alphaville gives me nightmares.
(Bottom left)
I enjoy their music but I hate when one of their videos comes on VH1 Classics because I know it’s going to be like a train wreck; I shouldn’t stare but I can’t look away. Why? What is it? How do I get over it? Ahhh, my musical kryptonite: http://youtu.be/t1TcDHrkQYg
